The experiment is divided into two sections, simulating a predator-prey relationship that is themed “bunnies eating grass” with and without invasive species. It is aimed to demonstrate that the ecosystem is self-balancing, limited by resources and that the intrusion of invasive species is harmful to the ecobalance.

To start the experiment, students are divided into groups of 4, each representing a sub-species of bunnies. Pom-poms of different color is placed in the middle of the table of each group, representing a variety of grass the bunnies can eat. Each student has its own distinct diet and feeding habits, represented by different colored pom-poms and different utensils (plastic knives, forks and spoons) they are using to hunt.
